Today in History: On June 4, 1972, radical activist, Angela Davis, was acquitted on charges of conspiracy, murder and kidnapping. She was arrested two years earlier in connection to a shooting that occurred in a courthouse in San Raphael, CA. She was accused as supplying weapons to Jonathan Jackson, who open fired in a courtroom to free prisoners. Davis was placed on the FBI’s most wanted list. Public support favored Davis’ acquittal. This included songs by John Lennon and the Rolling Stones.
